Historical Note

Project AWAKEN is a federally-funded grant program at Tennessee Technological University designed to address sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking on campus. The United States Department of Justice Office of Violence Against Women awarded the university Grant No 2017-WA-AX-0049 to create the program. Project AWAKEN publicly launched in the fall 2019 semester.

In 2020, the mission state of the project was: "Project AWAKEN is dedicated to the belief that no one should experience sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, or stalking. Project AWAKEN works to eliminate violence from happening, to train bystanders on active interventions, to improve professional responses to survivors on campus and in the community, and to serve as an empowering, confidential resource for survivors."
