The Tennessee Tech University Women’s Center Records date from 1992 to 2018. Records include annual reports, planning files for women’s history month programming, photographs, newspaper articles, event planning files, and speaker arrangement files. The records provide a detailed account on the founding and growth of the Tennessee Tech Women’s Center through 2018.

Reports, phone and walk-in logs, correspondence, clippings, event planning files, flyers, brochures, programs, photographs, and general files of the Tennessee Tech University Women's Center. Also includes records of the Commission on the Status of Women. Circa 1993-2017. Photographs document events and programming, including the Clothesline Project. The Clothesline project includes photographs of all shirts made for the exhibit and is available online.

Biographical / Historical

The Tennessee Tech University Women’s Center was founded in 1993 to empower women in the student body, on the faculty, and on the staff of the University community through the dissemination of information, education and consultation. They collaborated with other areas of the University to provide a range of services and events to enhance the lives of women and men in the University community. An integral part of this group in early years was Dr. Gretta Stranger, who served as the Women’s Center Director for many years.

As of 2021, the Center continues to serve the Tennessee Tech campus community, providing resources and hosting events for the benefit of students.
