Historical Note
On September 1, 1986, the Tennessee Tech University Department of Mathematics and Computer Science split into the separate Department of Mathematics and Department of Computer Science. At the time of its creation, the Department offered a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, with two major options in software or scientific applications, and served other majors in the College of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Business, and Education. In 1987, the Department hired Frank Hadlock as faculty and chair.
