Marie White papers
Scope and Contents
The Marie White collection dates from 1915 to 1984, with the bulk of the collection from 1961. The collection includes her degrees, her thesis and a carbon of it, a photo of White Hall, dedicated in her memory, with her photo superimposed on it, along with plaques commemorating her community involvement.
The largest part of the collection is a letter book containing letters from the Home Economics staff, dedicated to her for her retirement. Most of the letters date 1961, the year she retired as Chairman and commended her expertise in the Education profession.

Biographical / Historical
Marie White was a Chairman of the Home Economics Department at Tennessee Tech University from 1949 to 1961. She graduated from Simmons College with a Bachelors in Household Economics, and earned a Master of Science from the University of Tennessee Knoxville and a thesis dated December, 1935.
