Scope and Contents

The Golden collection contains mostly Color photographs. The majority of the photographs of from the 1980s. The photographs generally pictures educational conferences on campus and many kinds of seminars such as legal and discipline. This collection also contains many of Golden’s publications, resume, and professional papers. The publications contain papers such as the “TN Appalachia Educational Cooperative” as well as “The Community Around Us”. The professional papers of note are the ESEA Speech, Tennessee Valley Bicentennial South, and Division of Extended Services. The records provide information about Golden’s time at Tennessee tech as well as a few years before.

Biographical / Historical

Charles Golden was an educator for 45 years and worked at Tennessee Tech University for 22 years. Golden joined the Tech administration in 1969 and was an advocate for education. His career started in White County as a supervisor, administrator and principal for nine years in and superintendent for eleven years in Sparta City schools. His love for education lead to his coordination of several education programs. He served for Tennessee Tech’s Extended Services program acting as both interim dean and dean emeritus. After his many years of devotion to the education system and Tech he retired in 1992. During his career, he co-authored three books and published more than twenty-five articles.

Abstract
