Ralph Wirt was the son of Elmer Lincoln Wirt, founder of Putnam County Herald in 1903. He was born in Minnesota but moved to Putnam county when he was six. He married Margaret Jared in 1917. Records include handwritten notes, newspaper clippings, correspondence, transcription of the The Mountaineer" published in Cookeville, Civil War Centennial planning, and various church programs and religious pamphlets. Of interest in the papers are various pieces of ephemera from Cookeville and the Upper Cumberland including items such as welcome fliers, brochures, and programs.
