Temples-Isom-Williams Family papers
Content Description
This collection consists of documents relating to the extended family (Isoms and Woodlees) history of Alice Marr (Williams) Temples, mostly covering the years 1910 through the 1945. Much of the history covered relates to the many family members who attended Burritt College in Spencer, Van Buren County, Tennessee. The materials consist of inter-family correspondence--many highlighting the impact of World War I and the Spanish Flu on family members and the college, and a few regarding World War II; personal correspondence from Tennessee Governor and Mrs. Prentice Cooper to Herman Woodlee Isom; Burritt College publications and alumni meeting records--the latter span very sporadically up through 2003; newspaper articles regarding Burritt College alumni meetings; an autobiography by Herbert Loftis Williams, and photos. Some original materials and some copies.
