Adrien Barrère (1874-1931) was a French artist, painter, and poster artist. He was also a student of medicine and law. The posters included are prints of three of four lithographs he created in a series of caricatures documenting the Faculty of Medicine in Paris, including "Members of the Paris Medical Faculty" (1904) and the French Medical School Faculty (The Surgeons). The prints were popular among students of the school.

Upper Cumberland Medical Society's Dr. W.A. Howard purchased these prints in France around 1930, he gifted them to Dr. William E. Taylor, who then presented them to Dr. Sam T. Barnes, an orthopedic surgeon in Cookeville. Barnes donated the prints to Tennessee Technological University.
