Effie Boyd Young (1881-1941) was born in Buffalo Valley, Tenn. She married Charles Coker Young and they had three children. Effie's interest in history can be seen in her writings on such topics as frontier culture, President Franklin Pierce, and through genealogical research. The materials include poems, correspondence, writings and newspaper clippings. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Salem Women's Club.
