This collection of papers contains research for the paper "The Female Experience at Tennessee TEch: 1940-1990. The significance of this collection lies in the subject matter, which includes affirmative action, the role of women at Tech, and information regarding secual discrimination at Tech. As of the time this was accessioned there was no history of the contributions of women to the growth and development of Tennessee Tech University outside of this research project.
Of particular interest are the oral histories. Included are the recollections of a staff member who as a student and librarian has been a part of the university community for 50 years. Also included
are the reminiscences of the first woman to receive a Ph.D. from T.T.U and a female athlete.
This collection provides valuable insight into women at the the university. The collection consists of publications, reports, public documents and oral history interviews, and a copy of a research paper.
